George Koss, D.O.Dr. Koss brings over forty years of experience in orthodox and complementary medicine to his integrated medicine family practice. In 1959, Dr. Koss completed his traditional medical training in Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery at the University of Health Sciences of Des Moines, and in 1973, he became certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Koss has also studied and practiced complementary medicine since shortly after becoming a physician, receiving training in the biochemistry of Nutrition from world-renowned scientist and biochemist, Dr. Jeffrey Bland. Dr. Koss has developed a particular interest in glucose dysfunction and predicted thirty years ago that there would be an epidemic of Adult Onset Diabetes and Obesity, which has proven to be true. He has an expert understanding how nutrition, diet and lifestyle can influence the varying degrees of glucose dysfunction. Since completing his initial training, Dr. Koss spends over one hundred hours per year attending seminars given by the world's leading authorities on nutrition and health, to remain current with breaking discoveries in integrated medicine. Dr. Koss approaches his practice with the philosophy that a physician should act as a health coach, empowering patients to take ultimate responsibility for their health, with the doctor offering resources to aid individuals in balancing body, mind, and spirit for optimal health. Because each person’s health needs are as unique as their fingerprint, Dr. Koss develops carefully tailored programs, and he emphasizes treating the root of the problem rather than suppressing symptoms. Highly active within the medical community, Dr. Koss served fifteen years as the State Surgeon for the Washington State Department of Military Affairs (National Guard) and was appointed by the Governor of the state of Washington, to the Board of Osteopathy and Surgery, the licensing and disciplinary board. Dr. Koss is also a member of the American College for Advancement of Medicine, and was a member of the former Northwest Academy of Preventive Medicine. He has known Dr. Bolles for over 30 years, and has shared many similar interests over the years. |
