Aloe Vera has been used for centuries for its healing properties. It is most known for its ability to treat skin infections, wounds and burns. Skin is most commonly perceived as external; however, our digestive tract is considered an inner skin. Aloe Vera is very healing to stomach irritations such as gastritis and ulcers. In addition, it will treat inflammation and irritation of the small intestine (Crohn's disease) and colon (colitis).

There are numerous scientific studies demonstrating the effectiveness of Aloe Vera in treating peptic ulcer; it has been shown to exhibit antibacterial and antifungal activity, and the constituent "acemannan" (acetylated mannose) anti-viral activity. The studies go on to confirm its anti-allergy and anti-inflammatory aspects which explain its topical effectiveness, its benefit in inflammatory bowel diseases and stomach irritations.

Even beyond these local effects, a study in 1985 by Shida produced good results with Aloe Vera given to patients who suffer from asthma.

Aloe Vera contains many biologically active compounds which account for its healing capacity. The acemannans are very susceptible to breakdown and lose their effectiveness in a short amount of time. In addition, their Aloe Vera plants are organically grown and the gel is extracted only from the inner leaf.
